Abstract This study analyzes the incidence of family homicides during the period of January 15-21, 2026, revealing a significant gender asymmetry with 75% male victims. By integrating OSINT methodology and relational psychotraumatology, the article explores violence as the outcome of severe emotional dysregulation. The use of the V.E.R.A. protocol (Violence Emotional Risk Assessment) allows these events to be framed as failures in impulse control due to a narrowed "window of tolerance," typical of Complex Trauma (C-PTSD) frameworks.
Introduction and methodology Under the scientific coordination of Massimo Lattanzi and Tiziana Calzone, with the collaboration of Francesca Candus, AIPC and CIPR monitor the evolution of family crimes. The research is based on OSINT (Open Source Intelligence) methodology, consisting of the systematic collection and analysis of data from open and publicly accessible sources. In this context, OSINT is used to extract news cases reported by press outlets, allowing for the mapping of phenomenological profiles that bypass the technical delays of institutional sources. This data is then filtered through Proactive Relational Intelligence and the V.E.R.A. protocol. This tool is not limited to a social reading of the phenomenon but evaluates risk from a clinical perspective, focusing on neurobiological vulnerability and the loss of the capacity to emotionally negotiate relationships before the "passage to the act" (acting out) occurs.

International Summit - February 13th The Event: February 13, 2026 | Rome The presentation of the VERA protocol will be the heart of the International Summit "From C-PTSD to Pet Therapy." Research data conducted by the Rome and Pescara centers will be disclosed, documenting how the window of tolerance—often extremely narrow in traumatized patients—can be reopened and stabilized through the integration of these cutting-edge methodologies. "The V.E.R.A. Protocol represents the watershed between the condemnation to repeat trauma and the concrete possibility of healing."

Conclusion: The need for a perspective beyond prejudice The data from this week is clear: 75% of family homicide victims are men. This emphatic figure demands profound reflection that transcends established social patterns. It is necessary to intervene in the emotional dysregulation that turns conflicts into tragedies, promoting a proactive relational intelligence capable of preventing the "passage to the act." Familiarity must no longer be synonymous with danger, but the place where emotional regulation protects the lives of all.
If you find yourself in a situation of suffering, if you are experiencing violence, or if you feel unable to control your impulses and act with aggression, do not wait for the situation to escalate. Violence, in all its forms, often stems from deep emotional dysregulation and an inability to remain within one's window of tolerance.
