Abstract This contribution analyzes the data emerging from the weekly monitoring of "family crimes" during the period of November 20-26, 2025. The investigation highlights an extreme and statistically significant polarization: the totality of the homicidal events committed involved exclusively the male gender, both in the role of victim and perpetrator, circumscribing the phenomenology entirely to Southern Italy and the Islands. This data suggests a specific dynamic of "traumatic resonance" between male subjects in contexts of family or acquaintanceship, requiring an interpretation that goes beyond simple news reporting, rooted in Forensic Relational Psychotraumatology.
Introduction and OSINT methodology
The National Observatory on Family Homicides (ONOF), in synergy with AIPC and CIPR, continues its monitoring activity of violent crimes occurring within relational networks. The data presented do not derive from official institutional sources, but from a systematic analysis of open sources (OSINT - Open Source Intelligence) based on news reports by press outlets. The objective is to highlight the real scope of the phenomenon, including not only homicides but also attempted homicides and related suicides, classified as "family crimes." The analysis methodology follows the AIPC Scientific Violence Screening (A.S.V.S.) protocol, an integrated approach combining clinical and psychophysiological assessment for violence prevention.
Profile analysis: the homicide victim and perpetrator (November 20-26, 2025)
From the statistical processing of the events surveyed this week, two specular profiles emerge, outlining a clear fracture regarding the mixed-gender dynamics often observed.
1. The homicide victim profile
In the week under review, the victim profile is monolithic regarding gender and geography.
- Gender: 100% of homicide victims are male.
- Age: There is a prevalence of victims of mature or advanced age. 50% belong to the 54-71 age bracket, and the remaining 50% to the over 72 (72+) bracket.
- Geographic distribution: The totality of lethal events (100%) occurred in the South and Islands.
- Degree of familiarity: Victims were killed exclusively by people belonging to their relational circle: 50% by Relatives and 50% by Acquaintances.
- Weapon: Injury modalities are equally divided between the use of bladed/edged weapons (50%) and direct physical aggression (50%).
2. The homicide perpetrator profile
The perpetrator reflects, in a disturbing manner, the characteristics of the victim, suggesting "peer" or intragenerational male violence.
- Gender: On the perpetrator side as well, 100% of offenders (or alleged offenders) are male.
- Age: Perpetrators are on average younger than the victims, concentrated entirely (100%) in the adult age bracket of 36-53 years.
- Geographic distribution: Consistent with the victims, 100% of the perpetrators acted in the South and Islands.
- Degree of familiarity: The perpetrator struck a relative in 50% of cases and an acquaintance in the remaining 50%.
Correlation with the previous week (November 13-19, 2025)
Comparing current data with the trends of the previous week (November 13-19, 2025), a consolidation of male violence in proximity contexts in the South is observed. Whereas in previous weeks wider variability in terms of gender could be found (with the frequent presence of female victims in ex-partner contexts), the week of November 20-26 marks a peak of male exclusivity in lethal outcomes. While attempted homicides this week still show a presence of female victims (42%), consummated homicide has configured itself as a man-on-man phenomenon within family or acquaintance relationships. This data emphasizes how emotional dysregulation and the use of bladed weapons or physical force are predominant vectors in the resolution of conflicts between adult men in degraded family contexts.
Conclusions
The data from the week of November 20-26, 2025, provides us with a clear snapshot: family homicide, in this specific timeframe, was a totally male and Southern phenomenon. The prevalence of perpetrators in the 36-53 age bracket acting against older victims (54-71 and 72+) suggests intergenerational conflict dynamics (e.g., father-son or deep-rooted neighborhood/acquaintance conflicts) that result in lethal acting out. This "specular violence" requires intervention that goes beyond penal sanction. As defined by Forensic Relational Psychotraumatology, it is imperative to analyze the traumatic roots of such explosions of rage, often the result of untreated emotional dysregulation that transforms conflict into tragedy.
